SEO for recruitment agencies
Recruitment sites have their own search problems: jobs that come and go, candidates and employers searching differently, and a lot of competition from the big job boards. I have built and set up search for two recruitment sites, so I know the details.
What matters for a recruitment site
- A page for every job that can be found on its own, with a clear title and description.
- Job structured data, so jobs can be eligible for Google's job listings.
- Closed jobs handled properly: they drop off the list and out of the sitemap so visitors and Google are not sent to vacancies that have gone.
- Area and sector pages for the places and kinds of work you recruit for, each with real content.
- Two audiences, one site: employers who want staff and people who want work, each with a clear first step.
- Owners in control: adding a job or changing a page should not need a developer.
- Local signals: a Google Business Profile, reviews and consistent contact details.
What I have done
F2 Recruitment is an owner-run driving, logistics and industrial recruitment agency in Bolton. I built its WordPress site with a job board the owners manage themselves, job structured data, area and service pages, and the search groundwork. Searching for the business name now shows the site with sitelinks. The full case study has the detail.
HGV Recruitment is my own information site for HGV drivers in Wigan, with eleven area pages and informational articles. It is a work in progress and I make no ranking claims.
